Welcome to Martins 3D Studio, established in 2020. My name is Luke Martins and I am a 3D artist, specialising in digital miniature design. I have 10 years of design experience with a passion for characters, stories and all things miniature. I work from Hampshire in the UK. I design digital files for kickstarters, company projects and commercial 3D printing.

My services are detail orientated, tailored and with a high level of communication and professionalism during the design production process. No Generative AI is used, and we strongly advocate against it. I use popular 3D industry software and specialised skills, learned through practice, experience and time.

Miniature scale commissions from 1/100 to 1/72 + scales are some of my favourite projects to design. I have also made high detail busts, 75mm+ scale pieces and more.

I am a huge miniature enthusiast myself, inspired by practical usage in classic film and popular media. I also partake in the miniature hobby as an amateur scale miniature painter in my freetime.

We create tailor made 3D designs and artworks, 3D print ready miniatures, collectibles, cut modular parts and create larger complex pieces for clients.

Available for 3D modelling, product design prototyping, anatomy work, miniature and animal sculpture and more.

I’m a huge fan of history, dark-fantasy, science-fiction and other themes, aiming to work within these themes in the future.

What current and previous clients have to say...

“…I’ve been dealing with Luke for about one and a half years now (as of August 2022) and keep coming back again and again to utilise his excellent sculpting skills. I have had dozens of miniatures across both Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres sculpted by Luke in this time, from as small as 10mm in scale up to the more traditional 28mm scale, and without exception, each time Luke has delivered a phenomenal model that I have been exceedingly happy with. Luke has an awesome worth ethic and is excellent to deal with…his communication skills, patience, punctuality and incredibly in-depth knowledge of sculpting makes him such a delight to work with. I also find that Luke’s charges/fees are very reasonable, and easily worth the skill, time and effort he puts into his sculpting work!“

Service: 10-28mm Miniature sculpting

“…I could not recommend Luke enough. I gave him a project with many particular details that I was extremely picky about. And he nailed it. Every bit of it. He surpassed my expectations. One of the only times in my entire life I’ve hired someone and they’ve passed my expectations. Luke is extremely professional and quick in his correspondence. He had no issues with making revisions and he did so quickly. Again, I could not be happier with the entire experience. Just a pleasure.”

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Are you taking commissions currently?

I am, whether that be right now or scheduled for some time in the future.

For business inquiries, you can email me: luke.martins.111@gmail.com, or Instagram direct message me @martins_3d_studios

I usually handle project communication over email.

I am taking bookings for the rest of 2026, with plans on diving into personal projects for releasing both free 3D printing files and paid value file sets.

Can I pay for a commission in installments / increments?

We completely understand that when purchasing a detailed 3D sculpture commission, paying in one go might not be an option for everyone.

We’d be happy to split your commission into set stages when you are ready, in multiple smaller payment steps if this works for you. This also allows for a larger scale project to be tackled over a long period of time, such as a kickstarter range.

How can I reach out to you?

For business inquiries, you can email me: luke.martins.111@gmail.com or use the Contact page form.

For anything else, please reach out to me on any of my social media platforms. I’m on Instagram as @martins_3d_studios and am most active there.

Are you available for Freelance or Full-time work ?

I’m available for most freelance projects with companies large and small, including private clients.

I am not looking for a full-time project at the moment, I am open to freelance work. You can however still email me to discuss any opportunities great or small.

Do you offer a 3D printing service? What printer to use for detailed scale miniatures? Any tips?

I do not, and I dont have any plans to do so. 3D printing models is a whole other skillset in itself, and varies per machine, model and project goals.

I would strongly reccomend resin 3D printers for miniatures, detailed or not. I use local operators near me for physical prototypes, and would advise looking on etsy or professional service postings for people who do 3D printing fulltime.

Resin printers need sculpted models to be supported (Some programs can do this automatically), which can add scarring to a model if not done well, and if the model supports are added to the front (e.g. a face) of a model, this can impact the printed look negatively or require alot of cleanup.

FDM printers do great things for cheap, and fast, for decent enough quality for real life scale props, but still need work to look refined and reduce the prominence of layer lines. The layer lines are also why I wouldnt reccomend small miniatures to be printed on them.

Where did you learn what you know? Did you study?

I first started my forray into 3D in 2017 when I started university. I did a course on how the art in videogames is made. I did a 3 year BA in the Art of Videogames at Solent University, Hampshire, UK. I cant give them all the credit though…there were plenty of nights with 3-4 hours of sleep where Zbrush and a redbull were my trusted companions.

Learning never stops in this field, and lately I’m self taught and always looking to learn new skills and programs where necessary. The same goes for freelance, I am required to learn new lessons frequently and rely on finding solutions to workflow all the time.

What software do you use to create your various work style end results?

Pixologic Zbrush (Predominantly)

Autodesk 3DS MAX

Lychee slicer

Marmoset Toolbag 4

Pure Ref

Game art specific:

Adobe Photoshop

3DCoat

Substance Painter

What if I just want a singular small prop 3D model created for printing?

I am more than willing to work on smaller scope projects like this, to fit your brief, projects like this are not as time intensive and so are cheaper when compared to the majority of packages on the Details And Prices page.

What projects do you most enjoy with clients?

I would say I’m up for anything, but character work is the main thing.

Subjects that I can look into for research and visual references is preffered. Fantasy is probably my favoruite design limitation to work with. I also love making characters from historical periods, lesser known and popular and creature design, from dragons to orcs is a joy of mine. Anything with a strong narrative element or client vision is going to be more tempting.

Can you cut and key assets for 3D printing in separate parts?

Yes. I have experience doing modular miniatures and large detail pieces with cuts around complex interacting model forms.

If the model I need is for 1/100 scale (15mm) will it be cheaper than a larger scale piece?

Yes, this does also depend on model complexity and pose, overall they are less laborious due to detail limits

What kind of assets do you enjoy making the most?

In general I like to try and be up for most things, minus big ‘hard-surface’ focus pieces. I dont want to have to make vehicle designs very often for example, though I have experience with it.

I don’t want to pen myself into too tight a niche. Anything from brave human warriors, femme fatales, brutal orcs, animals and big ugly creatures from planning notes, reference or concept art are most enjoyable, having a planned look for a pose is very helpful too.

Can you create a 3D model of (x DnD character) in 3D for printing?

Yes, if you have a drawing, concept or mood-board of references, or even just a strong description I can try my hand at creating that for you. The more reference and direction is ideal, but revisions are included in my packages to best match your ideal output.

If I request a character basemesh to be sculpted, and I want multiple posed figures derived from the same character basemesh, do the posed file outputs cost less to make than the initial sculpting costs?

Yes, Basemesh production takes longer than posing the final figures. I create the base-meshes in parts so that the posing process can be flexible and offer a more versatile range of results.

Some poses however, can be more complicated, some take longer than others, or have dynamic elements that can bog down production times.
